Remarks from the Committee (current period): From January 2008 project was transferred to an Interim Committee under Pahansila General Coordinating Committee (PGCC) from US West Chapter. 2008 February scholarship payment was not made as the students failed to submit 2007 year-end progress reports until end-February. Scholarship payments were reinstated as soon as the committee received progress reports (in March). Sewwandi will be sitting for G.C.E. (A/L) examination in August 2008. After August, the scholarship payment will be reduced back to Rs.1000 per month for Sachini.

Previous Remarks:
2007 July - December: According to the project supervisor, after the death of their grandmother, younger sister lived with one of their uncles. Since this family is taking care of other needs, this scholarship immensely help them to cover educational expenses. The elder sister takes care of her disable father and all the work at home. Although they have failed to submit reports from school, the supervisor recommends continuing funding until the elder sister completes AL examination in August 2008, as they have no other means of income. According to the supervisor, these children do not get any guidance from any responsible adult and their future seems very unpredictable. As suggested by the supervisor, the donor agreed to increase the scholarship amount to Rs.2000 per month from January 2008 until August 2008 (to pay AL tuition fees of the elder sister). Project will be transferred to Interim committee from 2008 January.

2007 January - June: According to the project supervisor, although they have not submitted all the progress reports, these children are keen on studies and recommended to continue funding. In addition to school work these children have to take care of their bedridden father and grandmother.
