Remarks from the Committee (current period): Obtained an average mark of 58.7 at the most recent term exam. School attendance – over 90%. Recommend to continue the scholarship.


Previous Remarks:
2008 July - December: Mother of the student informed us that the scholarship payment for July to September 2008 was not received to the bank. Our financial administrator checked with the bank and found out that the bank had made a mistake in the account holder’s name and had not deposited our payment. This was rectified by the bank in December via a deposit to the student’s account. This is not reflected in the bank statement as it was last updated in November. We hope to see this entry in next report. Recommend to continue the scholarship.

2008 January - June: Student sat for the 5th grade scholarship exam. Monthly scholarship amount was increased to Rs.750 from January 2008. From 2008, committee decided to make scholarship payments quarterly. In the most recent letter written by mother, she says that scholarship payment for July to September was not received. However the payment has been made and our Project Coordinator will look into the matter. Recommend to continue the scholarship in 2009 and increase the scholarship amount to Rs.1000 per month, depending on the performance at the 5th grade scholarship exam.

2007 July - December: According to the student, she was placed first in the class. Principal certified marks sheet shows she has obtained 73.1 average marks at the most recent term exam. Will be sitting for OL examination in 2008 December. Has represented school in All-Island dancing competitions. Participate in school events as an English and Sinhala announcer. School prefect. She addresses letters to Pahansila Coordinator as the donor wishes to remain anonymous. The student participated at the meeting held in Kandy for Pahansila recipients with her mother.

2007 January - June: Transferred to the interim committee from Urbana-Champaign chapter in January 2007. Scholarship amount changed from Rs. 900 to Rs. 1000. Placed first in the class. Recommend to continue funding for 2008.
